NO, that is what a forbearance agreement is. With forbearance, the lender takes the default amount you are behind and has you pay that over a period of time usually around 12 months. You are also required to keep up your existing mortgage while on the repayment plan. Your payment will actually be a lot higher than normal. With a modification we completely restructure your current loan.
Is this a deed in lieu of foreclosure?
No. A deed in lieu of foreclosure is what other companies ultimately do when they cannot do a modification for you. This is giving your home back to the bank and walking away from the property. This is something that can be worked out between you and the bank if you didn’t qualify for a modification.
